I was a painter for many years and had many years of training in it. Have to say the filter does a better job with impressionistic style painting than I ever did. You've got the idea of brush stokes down very well. The only thing missing is line accentuation, which would involve a whole other ball game I would think in computer coding. When I have time I'll try layering with Simplify and an erasure tool and see what happens.
