I then installed the 5.2/4.2 updates - same result. You really have to uninstall the old one's first. Having finally got that sorted out, it turned out the PSE15 wasn't seeing everything correctly, I had to resort to the Topaz plugin installer here: https://support.topazlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/216538448 to get everything working again.......
