Apps crashing immediately

I installed the trial of all the topaz apps on my mid 2012 macbook running the latest el-capitan 10.11.1. Whenever I try to bring an app up it immediately crashes. I gave up on a trial about 6months ago for the same reason. (and I deleted and re-installed the latest.) According to the documentation it should run without an issue on my macbook. I did put in a ticket but I'm hoping someone else has solved this. Nothing in the log has jumped out at me.
